VI COMMANDO

Prt. Arthur Wild, formerly of the 1^st Battalion Border Regiment, served with No.6 Commando from the unit’s inception on 27^th July 1940, having previously served from 20^th September 139 until 30^th May 1940 with the BEF in France..

Prt. Arthur Wild was reported as being killed in a mine explosion on 28^th September 1940, aged 20 years. He was laid to rest in New Romney Cemetry, Grave 1132.

Arthur was the son of William and Clara Wild, and the brother of John Wild of Werneth, Oldham, Lancashire.

The inscription on his grave headstone reads: “Peace. Perfect. Peace.”
